In 2010, Reiman Gardens will explore the secret world of garden ornamentation. A world filled with gazing balls, topiary, whirligigs, fairies, wheel barrows and gnomes. Learn about garden decoration with a humorous twist.
Sit and Relax
Conservatory (January – March)
Garden ornament is not only embellishment, but serves a functional purpose too. A collection of whimsical, traditional and colorful seating arrangements throughout the Conservatory will provide ideas for your outdoor space this year. Just sit, relax and enjoy.
Go Big and Go Gnome
World's Largest Gnome (April 23 – October 15)
Built to be the World's Largest Concrete Gnome, our fifteen-foot gnome will delight visitors. The gnome is commissioned by Reiman Gardens and constructed by National Rock & Sculpture, Inc. in Wisconsin.
Gnome Sweet Gnome
Throughout the Gardens (April 23 – October 15)
See 24 gnomes painted and decorated by 24 different Iowa organizations. Take the Gnome Walk and see how little gnomes can be presented in a variety of ways.

All Bottled Up
Conservatory (April 1 – November 14)
A unique, Southern, garden ornament tradition, it is believed that bottles suspended in the trees would attract and capture evil spirits. Learn more about these Southern stories and a bit about glass recycling as you stroll through this unique display inside the Gardens' Conservatory.
It's Knot your Typical Topiary
Herb Garden (May 15 – October 15)
Topiary has a long and rich history of creating garden ornament from plant materials. Check out the Herb Garden to see how our topiary forms are placed in a beautiful knot garden design. Interpretation will focus on the process of creating topiary.
Summer Breeze
Margaret E. Penkhus Campanile Garden (May 15 – October 15)
The wind makes the garden dynamic, especially if you add sails, pinwheels and whirligigs. Experience the beauty of the wind in the Campanile Garden this summer.
Fairy Estates and Troll Abodes
Children's Garden (May 15 – October 15)
Legend says there's a fairy for every flower, but watch out for the angry trolls. Add a little mythical ornamentation magic to your visit in the Children's Garden. All ages will delight in these unique garden decorations.
Flamingotorium
Pattern Garden (May 15 – October 15)
It's not been since the 1960's that you could have seen a flock of flamingos squeezed into a 400 square-foot space. These flamingos will be encircled by art deco decor. Revisit one of the most loved (and hated) garden ornaments.
Preserving the Past
Home Production Garden (May 15 – October 15)
Visit a good-ol' country scene filled with wheel barrows, rusty gates and heirloom plants. This garden might remind you of a visit to Grandma and Grandpa's farm. Learn about preserving foods while you stroll through this garden.
Shiny and Bright
Conservatory (November – January 4)
See light dance as they reflect off of a collection of gazing balls designed in a charming holiday display. Reiman Gardens' will be showcasing these colorful, reflective spheres.
