Nathan’s Notes

close up of a butterfly with black, orange and white markings and green leaves and and yellow flowers behind it.

Just in time for the changing leaves of fall—a butterfly who mimics the colors of the season. The Rusty-tipped Page (Siproeta epaphus) is a dark brown butterfly with rust color on the tips of its forewings. It can be found year-round in South and Central America.

Here at the Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing, this rather large butterfly puts on quite a show and is not afraid to pose for pictures.  Look for it feeding on the nectar of bright lantana flowers or from the fruit dishes near the waterfall.
