New to Us Butterfly Species

I’m always excited when we receive a butterfly species that has never been flown in the Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing, and now that we have been open for almost 13 years, it happens less and less. We received the Pearly Leafwing (Consul electra) a Central and South American butterfly typically associated with the rainforests of those areas. We frequently receive a close relative of the Pearly Leafwing, the Consul (Consul fabius) with both butterflies sharing a leaf like shape when their wings closed. We received three individuals of this species, so if you find one on your visit to the Butterfly Wing this month consider yourself lucky.
