Emma Kachelmeyer – Retail Management Intern

Hi I am Emma Kachelmeyer, and I am the Retail Management Intern here at Reiman Gardens this summer. I am going to be a junior next semester in Apparel Merchandising, and I’ve recently completed my French Minor. I am very excited to participate in this internship because, aside from my love for gardens, I get to learn about buying and planning hands on. I hope to be a buyer for a clothing company post graduation, so this internship is a great learning experience outside of the classroom. Being only a sophomore this past year, I’m grateful to have this opportunity.

I’ve already learned so much from my supervisor Val, who has helped guide me in picking out various merchandise for the Gift Shop. Meeting with reps, looking through catalogs and eventually going to market with Val has helped widen my knowledge of products and the process of buying at a wholesale level. I have really enjoyed working in the Gift Shop in my first month here. I have gotten to arrange many displays, and I’ve help customers find their perfect gift or souvenir from the Gardens.
