Meet Emily Stoffel
Hi! My name is Emily Stoffel and I am a junior studying Horticulture at Iowa State. My area of focus is landscape design, installation and management and I am hoping to pursue a career in interior landscape design (think malls, casinos, office spaces etc.). Horticulture is such a broad term and covers so many careers that it’s hard to fit all of those into one curriculum. Thankfully, I have amazing teachers and advisors who always want to see their students succeed. I am lucky enough to be able to do an independent study at Reiman Gardens and work with all their wonderful staff to learn about conservatory care, tropical plants, interior design, and all that goes into making an indoor display. Over the course of the semester, I will be taking care of the conservatory and indoor plants, scouting for insects and pests, helping design the next conservatory display, working with volunteers and staff to install the displays, working on a final poster, and so much more! I look forward to learning more about interior landscaping and getting hands-on experience that I will be able to use in my future career.
