Katie Mechelke – Garden and Landscape Maintenance Interns

Hello everyone! My name is Katie Mechelke, and I am one of the two Garden and Landscape Maintenance Interns here at Reiman Gardens. I am going to start my senior year this fall with a major in Horticulture, specifically public Horticulture. After I graduate I hope to work in a public garden like Reiman Gardens. I found and decided to work at Reiman Gardens this summer due to the large outdoor space and wanting to gain experience in an outdoor garden.

I just started this summer, and have so far helped pull all the tulip bulbs from the gardens. And now we have started to replace them with annuals for the summer. But it has been an amazing first few weeks here and very hands on.

I am very excited to meet many of you and to answer any questions that you may have. So please don’t hesitate to stop and say hi if you see me out working in the Gardens.
