Kennedy Hill – Garden & Landscape Maintenance Intern

Hello there! My name is Kennedy, and this summer I am an intern at Reiman Gardens with the outdoor horticulture staff. Here at Iowa State, I am majoring in horticulture and my option within the major is landscape design. I was super excited to start this internship because my long term goal is to work in a public garden or botanical center, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to get my foot in the door. While I have spent the first weeks all over the Gardens, I will be spending the majority of the summer under the direct supervision of the Manager of Horticulture Sarah Rummery. We will spend every day in the Campanile Garden, the Hardwood Forest, the Rose Garden, the Herb Garden, and a couple of other spots. I am excited to learn how to care for an outdoor public space as well as anything else that I will learn throughout the summer. As you can see from the picture, we have already been hard at work!
