Molly Osweiler – Volunteer Management Intern

Hi there! It’s me again—Molly! If you haven’t read my last blog post, I’ll fill you in a bit; I’m the summer Volunteer Management Intern. I basically support the volunteer program at the Gardens and figure out new ways to improve it. It’s a very enjoyable job, and I’m lucky to have such a great opportunity!

Last week at Reiman Gardens was a little different than most. Instead of a normal work day, the other interns and I got to go on a little field trip! We travelled almost 3 hours southwest to visit Omaha’s Lauritzen Gardens and Henry Doorly Zoo. I had never been to Lauritzen Gardens before, but it was spectacular! I couldn’t believe how big and private it was. If you love Reiman Gardens, you should definitely make a visit to Lauritzen Gardens. The Henry Doorly Zoo was also pretty amazing. I hadn’t been there since I was very little, but I could tell that it had grown a lot! You could definitely spend an entire day at that place due to their wide variety of exhibits including both animals and plants. It was really interesting to see how their staff ran the facility because it differed greatly from our scene here.

Overall, I had a wonderful field trip experience, and I’m excited to continue my internship through the rest of the summer!

Have a great week!
