Shoemakers

It is amazing the difference an “o” makes. In the Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing we fly both Archaeoprepona demophon (Banded King Shoemaker) and Archaeoprepona demophoo(Silver King Shoemaker). Not only are the names similar, but the two species even look very similar. In the wild they occupy the same habitats but, interestingly, utilize different parts of that habitat. A. demophoon spends most of its time up in the tree canopy while A. demophon hangs out in the understory. In the Butterfly Wing, we don’t have enough canopy for the two to really separate themselves so you will find them together.
