Meet Lori Croghan, Landscape and Garden Maintenance Intern

Hi everyone! I’m Lori Croghan, one of the Landscape and Garden Maintenance interns at Reiman Gardens this summer. I’m entering my senior year as a horticulture and biology major at Iowa State. This summer I’ve been busy working in Sycamore Falls, the new area of Reiman Gardens that’s set to open up in August.
Most of the time, I’m either tilling, laying out plants, planting, or watering all the new plants. There’s a lot of work to be done before Sycamore Falls will be ready to open, but we’re making steady progress. I’m excited for you all to see this new area of the Gardens soon!
My leadership project is working with Plant a Row for the Hungry. Every year, Reiman Gardens donates the produce grown at the Gardens to Plant a Row, and the produce then gets distributed to local food pantries. This summer I’m growing some extra tomato plants from our greenhouses right inside the East entrance to Reiman Gardens. I’ll also be helping with farmer’s market collections throughout the summer and all the harvesting that will need to be done here at Reiman Gardens coming up. If you see me in the Gardens, feel free to say hi!
