Meet the Glasshouse Display and Greenhouse Production Intern: Kayren Robinson

My name is Kayren Robinson. I am a senior at Iowa State University graduating this December. I have been working at Reiman Gardens since March of this year. I worked indoors for the remainder of the spring semester and then started my internship in Glasshouse Display and Greenhouse Production.

I would like to talk about our opportunity as interns to rotate into different areas within Reiman Gardens. Over the summer each student spends a day working in other departments. This gives us an opportunity to see the different paths that horticulture can take and help guide us to determine career choices in the future. Also it gives us a greater understanding of how the Gardens work as a whole, providing us with a larger view to help us work together as a unit.

So far this summer I have had a rotation in Entomology where I learned so much and got some fun photos. I have also been able to work with education, private events, and garden and landscape maintenance interns who rotated into the greenhouse. I am looking forward to more experiences working in the different areas of the Gardens.
