Retail Management Intern’s Summer Project

Hello! My name is Jesse Howard, and I am the Retail Management Intern here at Reiman Gardens. I am going into my junior year at Iowa State as an Apparel Merchandising major. Throughout the summer, I have come out with my own personal project that focused on buying. My supervisor had me come up with my own buying plan which included research of merchandise, discussions with vendors, and working on visual merchandise for my products in store. The project I came up with focused around bees. Bees are a really big hit for the type of crowd that comes and visits Reiman Gardens. The products that I ordered included: t-shirts, mugs, to-go mugs, glass honey jars, bee lights, and my personal favorite…honey! I was very excited to be able to order honey for the store because it is the first time Reiman Gardens have ever sold anything like that. I contacted Jamie Beyer who makes local honey here in Story County which is an even better selling point. People love local honey! You can check out all the merchandise on the online store or wait until the Gift Shop reopens to get your hands on a few items.
