Meet Mary Klingelhoefer the Landscape and Garden Maintenance Intern

Hi! My name is Mary Klingelhoefer, and I am one of Reiman Gardens Landscape and Garden Maintenance Interns for this summer! I am a junior in global resource systems and environmental studies with a minor in geology.
This summer I’m hoping to improve my horticulture skills and learn about the inner workings of a non-profit. After Iowa State, I plan on applying to the Peace Corps. I’m passionate about international development, sustainable agriculture, and conservation. During my time here at the Gardens, I will be working on all things outdoor horticulture: maintaining outdoor displays, planting, pruning, watering, along with working with a variety of different plant species. I will also be working with the Plant-A-Row for the Hungry project (PAR). This organization encourages people to “plant a row” of fruits and vegetables to be donated to their community food banks.
I hope that my time at Reiman Gardens increases my knowledge in horticulture and nonprofits to enhance my future in the Peace Corps and other future endeavors. I feel lucky to work in such a beautiful place alongside passionate plant lovers, like myself. I’m so excited to be a part of the team here at Reiman Gardens, and I’m looking forward to a great summer.
