Gardener – For ISU Students
Job Description:
The Gardener will assist the Horticulture staff with the maintenance of the permanent plantings and rotating displays in the outdoor gardens or glasshouses. Job responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) watering, fertilizing, plant installation, weeding, deadheading, mulching, raking, mowing, string trimming, pruning, staking, amending soil, sowing seeds, propagating cuttings, transplanting plugs, planting topiary forms, installing exhibits, and cleaning. The employee is also expected to greet and answer questions from garden visitors. Gardening and plant knowledge is preferred but not required.
Job Skills/Requirements:
This position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs and tolerance of varied weather or greenhouse conditions. Must be able to work some weekends, holidays, and semester breaks.
Hours to Work:
During school, spring/fall semester, students must be able to commit to at least 3-hour shifts between 7:30am and 4:30pm, Monday thru Friday. Prefer minimum of 10 hours per week.
Hourly Wage Range:
$13.00 – $14.00
