Bonsai Show

October 9 – 10, 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Reiman Gardens and the Iowa Bonsai Association (IBA) welcome you to their annual Bonsai Show, Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bonsai, an ancient Asian art form that weds plant horticulture and art, is a rapidly growing and popular passion in the West.
The Iowa Bonsai Association and its sister club from Eastern Iowa will have a formal display of some of the finest bonsai in Iowa. IBA docents will be available to walk you through the show and answer your bonsai related questions. Bonsai styling and design demonstrations will run concurrent with the show. Come sit, relax and ask questions as bonsai artists work their magic.
The theme for this years’ event is Bonsai 201: Beyond the Basics. On Saturday, October 9, at 1:00 p.m. there will be three bonsai artists demonstrating and discussing advanced bonsai styling techniques.
On Sunday, October 10 at 1:00 p.m., Ivan Hanthorn returns with a demonstration of Kusamono and beyond. Hanthorn will share a critical view of Kusamono, a collection of plants designed to be viewed either in accompaniment with bonsai or alone.
IBA and an area bonsai vendor will sell bonsai and all bonsai related materials, tools and pots.
No registration is required to attend the Bonsai Show. Free for members and Iowa State University students with student ID. Cost of admission for the public.
