Haiga: Poetry and Painting

4-week program beginning Thursday, July 5, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Exploring the art of haiga, a style of Japanese painting that often accompanies a haiku poem, this crash combo course will offer two sessions of haiku, and two sessions of brush painting. Students will first learn to write and appreciate the beautiful poetic art of haiku with award-winning poet Dennis Maulsby, then will push the art form to new levels by discovering various techniques for brush painting with artist and instructor, Sara Merritt. Preregistration with prepayment is required by Tuesday, July 3.
