Landscape for Life with Story County Conservation

Reiman Gardens is partnering with Story County Conservation to bring you Landscape for Life, which shows you how to work with nature in your garden, no matter where you live, or the size of your garden. The concept of sustainability and its application in the home garden will be covered in each class. Following is a description of what each class will entail.

This five-part course is well suited for the beginning gardener or those looking for ways to be more sustainable on their land. Landscape for Life shows you sustainable methods for working with nature, your soil and the local climate, to create a garden that’s healthier for humans and the environment. The sessions cover soils, water and its application and harvesting, plant selection, gardening to attract wildlife, and landscape construction materials. Each week there will be homework that will result in your having a landscape plan for depicting your home structures, soil types, areas of sun & shade, water flow, wind flow, and current plantings. You will use this plan to help you make decisions on how you can change your landscape to make it more sustainable.
