Professional Development for Teachers: Haiku and Waterbased Media at Reiman Gardens
2-day workshop Monday, July 31 AND Tuesday, August 1, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Teachers, need a boost to your curriculum? Using waterbased media, participants will meet all day July 31 and August 1 at Reiman Gardens to be inspired to paint flowers or other materials in the gardens. Using your choice of waterbased media, including: watercolors, watercolor pencils, Aquarelle crayons, or acrylics, participants will practice their medium of choice in creating paintings. This is NOT a How-to-Paint class, but rather an opportunity to hone your skills.
Using these paintings as inspiration, participants will then write Haiku poetry. A demonstration on Haiga, Sumi ink painting will also give participants an opportunity to try their hand at this technique. Discussion will focus on composition, color theory, watercolor techniques, Haiga, and writing Haiku. Final project will be to create a classroom display.
