Youth Day Camp: Growing Artists

Monday, September 19, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Campers will visit different areas of the Gardens, participate in STEM experiments, and interact with nature through hands-on lessons, art activities, and crafts. Designed for students in grades 1-5 (Ages 6-10).

Adults will drop off youth for this program. Campers must bring a lunch that does not require refrigeration.
Preregistration with prepayment required by Thursday, September 15.

DROP IN: Make Handmade Paper!

Monday, August 29, 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM

Turn trash into paper with this hands-on workshop! First, start by shredding and blending recycled papers to create pulp. Then learn how to strain and press it to make fresh, clean sheets of handmade paper you can take home. Paper and pulp will be provided, but you may bring additional (non-glossy) paper to add to our pulp.

Drop in when you can, but give yourself at least 30 minutes for this activity and be sure to wear an apron or dress for the mess!

Floral Design: Two Tussie Mussies

Tuesday, August 16, 6:00 – 7:00 PM

Purposefully arrange seasonal flowers and herbs cut fresh from the Gardens in a tapered vase or cup. You’ll create two of these smaller bundles, historically given to friends or lovers and imbued with meaning.

Preregistration with prepayment is required by Sunday, August 14.

Are you a crafty person? Do you like to sip fun and fruity drinks? Well come to Reiman Gardens to enjoy Maker Mocktails! This July, learn how to make a non-alcoholic Lemon Balm Watermelon Mixer with Reiman Gardens’ staff in this after hours program and then take the recipe home so you can make it a true cocktail with your own alcohol. Then we will wrap up the night by designing and painting some flower vases made from recycled glass bottles!

Stop by the classroom at Reiman Gardens to turn junk into treasure. Recycling is not just about sorting trash; it is also about finding new ways to re-use something that can still be useful. In this drop-in class, learn how to make your very own propagation station (to make new plants from cuttings) out of recycled glass bottles.

All materials provided. Drop in when you can, but give yourself about 30 minutes for this activity. Open to ages 12+.

Sculpture Drawing in the Gardens

Explore the Lewis and Art Exhibition in a unique and active way with artist and illustrator Kelsey Wilson. Learn to draw in the still life tradition as you select a Dale Lewis sculpture to capture in graphite within the serenity of the Gardens.
