Capturing wildlife can be a challenging undertaking whether you are well practiced or photographing animals for the first time. Anyone who has tried to photograph an unpredictable creature like a cat or dog knows it is anything but simple. Join instructor Mark Stoltenberg as he walks you through the gear you’ll need and the tips and techniques to put it all together to achieve the animal shots you want. Learn how to set up for wildlife photos in your own backyard. The skills and techniques you develop in your own personal wildlife studio can be applied to any other destination you choose in pursuit of all types of wildlife.

Narrative Photography

4-week course on Tuesdays beginning March 5, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Have you considered "telling a story" or creating a "narrative" with your camera, and possibly presenting it in a photo book? Join Mark Stoltenberg of Mark Stoltenberg Photography and discover what it takes to create artistic photographs that really tell a story. We will cover the creation of a story, how to capture the images, and various steps involved in creating a photo book. The "narrative" could be almost anything each student chooses: capture a child’s journey through sports, a family vacation, make a memory book for a kid going to college, or create a storyboard for a movie.

Beginner Photography

4-week course on Mondays beginning March 4, 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.,

Join professional photographer and instructor Mark Stoltenberg as he helps you go beyond the “green” button to control your DSLR and take better photographs. And it doesn’t matter what brand of camera you are using, as these lessons apply to all DSLR cameras. Mark will teach depth of field, aperture, light, composition, simplifying your subject, "tips and tricks" and so much more. Once you start putting these concepts into practice you’ll see an immediate improvement in your work. Each class is broken into 3 parts: classroom discussion, hands-on practice taking pictures at the Gardens, and review of the images taken.

Macro Photography 401 – Advanced Techniques

In Macro 101 you learned the basics of Macro Photography. Now, take your close-up photography to the next level in this four-week course with professional photographer and instructor Mark Stoltenberg. Mark will take you through the techniques to expand your depth of field, get sharper images, and gain a better understanding of the impact of light. You will learn how to shoot and edit photo-stacked images for the ultimate in crisp focusing.
