The mission of Reiman Gardens’ Internship Program is to promote the professional and intellectual development of students through a multi-disciplinary educational approach and hands-on work experience. Hear our 2022 summer interns talk about the highlights of their experience working in horticulture, plant collections, entomology, education, events, and retail management.
Bring your lunch and attend each month to experience a new topic presented by local and regional professionals connected to this year’s theme “Home.”

Join us for music, games, and snacks as we celebrate the people who keep Reiman Gardens going. We couldn't do it without you. Enjoy an evening just for members and volunteers to relax and celebrate this beautiful space we've worked so hard to create.

Bring your own picnic blankets, lawn chairs, cooler and your picnic basket of food. We'll provide music, games, lemonade, water, and cupcakes for dessert!

From Soil to Sky: Seed Saving/Dividing & Cutting/Drying Flowers

Saturday, August 13, 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Learn the basics of saving seeds: what can you save, and how? Horticulturist Debbi Regennitter will also cover dividing plants and reproducing from cuttings. Then walk the gardens and gain hands-on experience selecting plants to dry using methods like hanging, pressing, and silica gel. Attendees will receive cuttings, saved seeds, and pruners with a holster.

Preregistration with prepayment is required by Thursday, August 11. Limited spots available.
We are able to offer this program and any associated supplies at a low cost to attendees thanks to granted funds from the Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust.

Floral Design: Two Tussie Mussies

Purposefully arrange seasonal flowers and herbs cut fresh from the Gardens in a tapered vase or cup. You’ll create two of these smaller bundles, historically given to friends or lovers and imbued with meaning.

Maker Mocktails: Botanical Bookmarks with Rose Lemonade

Are you a crafty person? Do you like to sip fun and fruity drinks? Well come to Reiman Gardens to enjoy Maker Mocktails! This August, learn how to make a non-alcoholic Rose Lemonade with Reiman Gardens’ staff in this after hours program and then take the recipe home so you can make it a true cocktail with your own alcohol. Then we will wrap up the night by creating your own botanical bookmarks, perfect for those late night reading sessions!

Youth Summer Camp: Insects and Other Invertebrates

Wednesday, August 17, 1:00 – 5:30 PM (rescheduled from June 8)

Gardens are home to more than just plants. Join us for a day of insect investigations as we explore the gardens and get a closer look at the critters who call Reiman Gardens “home.” Please make sure to dress for the weather: wear clothes that are comfortable for outdoor activities and hands-on messy fun. Adults will drop off youth for this program.

Saturday, August 20, 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Ditch the grass and learn about alternative options for eco-friendly groundcovers that provide homeowners with more sustainable beauty and biodiversity while saving resources. Plant Collections Curator Lindsey Smith will discuss fertilizing options and help you reframe the front lawn and the definition of a weed. Attendees will receive rooting hormone to use in establishing a lawn or lawn alternative.
